The Appalachian region faces ongoing ecological degradation from logging, weak environmental policies, and mountaintop removal, which worsen climate change, disrupt ecosystems, and intensify flooding and temperature swings. My proposal focuses on reforesting cleared sites using the Miyawaki Method, a technique that accelerates native forest growth to foster biodiversity and restore ecological balance within 20–30 years. This project seeks to transform the region’s landscapes and set a precedent for global restoration efforts.
