A-Frame
Loss & Liminality Studio | Faye Nixon
Once a lively hub in East Knoxville, Tennessee, the former A-frame hotel now lies in disrepair. Beside the James White Parkway and the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame, it sits at the edge of Knoxville's 1,500-acre Urban Wilderness. My proposal reclaims this post-industrial site as a public landscape for climbing, skateboarding, art, and performance. Cracked pavement yields to native vegetation, reflection ponds support wildlife, and the reused building hosts artist studios and sky terraces. By turning the site into a vibrant greenway destination, the project links East Knoxville to nature and reimagines urban infrastructure as a catalyst for community and ecological renewal.
